BIMB Integrated Annual Report 2019
Jom ke Sekolah The escalating cost of living has pushed parents, especially the less fortunate, to forgo a lot of things they deem as luxury. Unfortunately, one of those luxury items is providing basic schooling necessities for their children. With this in mind, AMAL’s Jom ke Sekolah programme was initiated for schoolchildren from poor economic backgrounds to have proper schooling necessities, which include school uniforms, stationeries, and some cash for them to spend. Conducted nationwide, the programme aims to lessen the financial burden of less fortunate parents and, with all the schooling provisions in place, to serve as a motivational factor for children to attend school. The year under review saw 736 schoolchildren from the states of Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Terengganu and Sabah selected to receive assistance from this programme. Along with the increased number of volunteers, AMAL has managed to increase its scope of operations for the event, covering more areas and contributing to more beneficiaries. Please read more about Hari AMAL in the ‘Talent Enrichment’ section of this report on page 92. AMAL Musa’adah In collaboration with Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (“AIM”), Bank Islam’s AMAL Musa’adah programme is a commitment to support the underserved and underprivileged to earn a decent living and improve their overall economic situation. This is done by providing AIM selected participants with the means to enhance their small businesses. The year under review saw the programme contributing RM69,299 worth of equipment and items, including kiosks and machineries, to help beneficiaries further develop their businesses. 56 beneficiaries in the state of Kedah received this contribution. Helping the Blind During the year under review, the AMAL team donated 50 Braille reference books for blind schoolchildren under Yayasan Orang ButaMalaysia . This RM4,500 worth of contribution reinforces a commitment to help the disabled and support them in leading better lives. 83 BIMB HOLDINGS BERHAD 199701008362 (423858-X) Shareholders’ Information Financial Statements Additional Information Disclosure Summary
