Projek Bantuan Rumah An annual programme whereby Bank Islam, through its network of compassionate stakeholders, including its customers and business partners, identify various people that need urgent help in obtaining basic housing. The programme strives to solve the plight of those in need of proper housing with a conducive living environment for the family. Since its inception in 2008, 297 houses have been constructed or repaired across the country at the total cost of more than RM9.2 million . The year under review saw more than RM850,000 allocated for the programme, with 14 families in Sabah receiving proper houses. Work on repairing and building new houses for those families are currently ongoing and is expected to be completed by year 2020. AMAL Bank Islam AMAL represents Bank Islam’s pledge to community investment, and serving the health and wealth of society. Through AMAL, both BHB and Bank Islam connect with, and significantly give back to communities in which we operate. Opportunities are provided for BHB and Bank Islam employees to get involved in various forms of philanthropic endeavours, from volunteering and participating in community projects to funding and donating for noble causes. Zakat funds sustain the AMAL initiatives that providing sustainable contributions to needy communities who are generally underserved, primarily in the areas of general welfare, education and medical access. AMAL-managed funds are also utilised to support environmental efforts, where the preservation of natural biodiversity will lead to socio-economic progress through cultivation of natural resources and ultimately, a better future for the next generation. The year under review saw more than RM3.8 million utilised as the Bank’s contribution to the community, with more than RM3.3 million from Zakat fund. Relationships are fostered with various NGOs, charitable bodies and other relevant agencies, and connected to the Bank’s employees to provide them opportunities to give back to society, and protect the world’s diverse lifeforms and precious resources from being ruthlessly exploited.
