SADAQA HOUSE Sadaqa House connects the public with social projects they are interested in contributing towards. Through the use of online means and a digital payment system, Sadaqa House makes it easier for members of the public to donate to causes closest to their hearts. With additional contribution from Bank Islam through the utilisation of Zakat fund, Sadaqa House is an effective social finance initiative that enables collaboration between the general public and Bank Islam to distribute much-needed funds to non-governmental organisations (“NGOs”), charitable organisations or social enterprises for the betterment of the disadvantaged and underprivileged communities. Collaborative Organisations Details Institut Jantung Negara (“IJN”) Foundation RM214,500 has been successfully raised for assisting 12 congenital heart disease patients, who come from poor backgrounds, to undergo heart surgery at IJN. Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (“UTM”) Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kepala Batas Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah Tapah RM95,000 has been successfully raised for the installation of Solar Power System at Kampung Orang Asli Woh Intake. The 92 Orang Asli (indigenous community) residents at the village will get the benefit of getting electricity supply from a renewable energy source instead of having to rely on a diesel generator. Four electrical engineering lecturers from UTM are responsible in the research and development of the solar power system installed at Woh Intake. 20 students from Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kepala Batas were involved in the actual installation of the system. Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah RM22,836.39 has been successfully raised to assist 10 women micro-entrepreneurs from B40 families in purchasing business equipment. Supporting Public Health Infrastructure myWakaf was initiated by Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (“AIBIM”) to optimise the development of Waqf land for the purpose of generating benefits to the general public. Bank Islam has been appointed by Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Perlis (“MAIPs”) as the leading bank in managing the fund for the construction of Tunku Fauziah Hospital Dialysis Centre (“HTF”) on the Waqf land situated at Kangar, Perlis. HTF requires about RM6 million in development and building cost, and its completion will further enhance the delivery of health services in the state of Perlis. Occupying 1,822 square meters of land, the two-story building will be able to accommodate 66 beds for patients with kidney problem.
