Seven (7) meetings were held during the financial year ended 31 December 2024. This is in compliance with the requirement of paragraph 11.2 of the SGPD that requires the meeting to be held at least once every two (2) months. The meetings are also attended by Mashitah Haji Osman, an independent NED who represents the Board. The GCEO, Group Chief Legal Officer & Company Secretary, Group Chief Internal Auditor, Group Chief Risk Officer, Group Chief Social Finance Officer, Group Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Product Management attend the SSC as permanent invitees. Their presence at the meetings improves the quality of engagement between the SSC and the Board as well with the Management. It increases their appreciation towards Shariah deliberations and decisions. The Board representative’s presence at the SSC does not affect the independent deliberation by the SSC members in their decision making. The Board receives regular updates on significant matters deliberated during the SSC meetings through the Chairman of the SSC who attends the Board meeting and through the minutes of the SSC meetings which are circulated and notified to the Board. Training In line with Section 6 of the SSC Charter, the SSC members undergo continuous training to keep abreast with the development in the banking industry and to enhance their skills and knowledge. This will facilitate the SSC members in discharging their responsibilities effectively. During the financial year under review, one (1) SSC member participated in the Certified Shariah Advisor program (CSA) awarded by the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS). The certification is commissioned by BNM to motivate professionalism among Shariah advisors.
