Bank Islam Integrated Annual Report 2024

WOW Conversations Objective • Foster a workplace environment where employees feel safe to share ideas and provide constructive feedback (psychological safety) without fear of rejection, retribution, or repercussion. What We Did in 2024 • Continued to champion the WOW Conversation framework – which stands for Won’t Judge, Open, and Win Together – as a tool to guide constructive dialogue and encourage mutual understanding of goals and synergy among employees. • Implemented the initiative using a top-down approach, where Senior Management practiced positive psychology amongst themselves and with direct reports, setting a positive example for the rest of our workforce. • Strengthened leadership competencies through the Bank Islam Spiritual Insightful Reflective Aspirational Hisbah (BASIRAH) Programme for senior managers and regional leaders (via the Regional Leadership Development Programme), focusing on psychological safety and empathetic leadership. • Took steps towards introducing an educational series that will promote psychological safety through real-life stories, lessons, tips and tricks, and more for employees across all job levels. Outcomes and Results • Enhanced open communication and trust among employees and leadership teams. • Developed leadership skills tailored to creating a psychologically safe and collaborative workplace culture. Mother’s Room and Sick Bay at MBI Objective • Provide a dedicated space to support the specific needs of mothers and improve our healthcare facilities. What We Did in 2024 • Launched our Mother’s Room in April 2024 to provide a private, safe, and comfortable space for nursing mothers. • Launched our Sick Bay on the same day, providing a safe and comfortable environment for sick employees to rest up and recover. Outcomes and Results • Enhanced workplace inclusivity by supporting the needs of nursing mothers and employees requiring short-term health accommodations. Taska Bank Islam Objective • Introduce a safe and convenient daycare centre to provide peace of mind for parents of young children, supporting their needs for balancing careers and family well-being.
