BITI-Friend, A Peer-to-Peer Support Platform EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING, HEALTH AND SAFETY Guided by the principles of Maqasid Shariah, we strive to create work environments where every employee feels valued, supported, and secure. This goes beyond physical safety alone: it is about nurturing a culture that is grounded in trust and integrity, and looking after each person’s holistic well-being across the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial dimensions. To achieve this, we have adopted a multi-faceted approach that encompasses several key components: Our wide-ranging efforts are informed by regular employee feedback, canvassed through effectiveness assessments, training feedback, and bi-annual pulse surveys. This allows us to adapt and evolve our programmes to meet the changing needs of our workforce effectively. OUR PROGRESS IN 2024 Supporting Holistic Well-being The Bank Islam Live Well programme was designed to support our employees’ emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and financial needs, forming the basis for a supportive work environment that drives satisfaction and retention. The programme’s key initiatives in 2024 included: Employee Wellness The Bank Islam Live Well programme and Kelab Bank Islam (KBI), which promote the holistic health and wellbeing of employees. Workplace Safety Our comprehensive Occupational Safety and health (OSH) framework. Work Environment Efforts to create greener, more conducive workplaces and specific support for employee groups, such as mothers. Workplace Culture Initiatives designed to encourage open communication, collaboration, and a deeper sense of trust across the organisation. MENTAL WELLNESS Objective • Provide employees with access to trained volunteers (Mental Health First Aiders) who can help them address mental health challenges they may be facing. What We Did in 2024 • Conducted Intermediate Level Training for 20 BITI-Friend volunteers in September, focusing on managing challenging workplace situations and supporting employees in distress. • Partnered with the Malaysia Mental Health Association to deliver the training, which emphasised practical techniques to create a more supportive workplace. Outcomes and Results • 20 BITI-Friend volunteers successfully enhanced their skills in mental health first aid, enabling them to better assist colleagues.
